Kari Bahorik
Kari Bahorik is deserving of the Outstanding Teacher Award because of her wonderful ability in meeting her students learning needs and for her willingness to step in where needed on a consistent and ongoing basis. The students under Mrs. Bahorik develop a love of learning and the knowledge they gain is carried with them throughout their coursework. Until this year Mrs. Bahorik was the technology instructor over K – 6th grades but a change in the school’s curriculum moved her to only K – 4th. Despite no longer being the teacher for 5th and 6th grades, the students still look to her for assistance with technology when needed. Mrs. Bahorik, because of her skills, helps in numerous other areas at the school including but not limited to assisting with open houses for prospective students, planning school events, and assisting parents who are working to support the theater department. When the word came while on spring break that the students would not be returning to the school due to the Covid – 19 crisis, Mrs. Bahorik lept into action. She participated in numerous phone calls, online conferences, and began planning for distance learning for the students at Davidson Academy. Despite being on a much needed break with her husband and two middle school aged sons, she went above and beyond to ensure that a workable plan could be deployed school wide to create the best possible learning experience. While this task was not hers alone, she was an integral part and selflessly gave her time to this task. Honestly ALL the faculty at Davidson Academy are amazing and have shown great adaptability as the school embraces distance learning on all levels. Mrs. Bahorik is outstanding and deserving to be recognized for her role in the students lives at Davidson Academy.
